I’m sick of spam comments! I hate using my mobile bandwidth when i’m away to mark the comments as spam, or waste my time when home
. So, I headed on to DynamicDrive.com , my best friend for everything Java, JavaScript and AJAX (and yes, I know AJAX uses JavaScript as well, not stupid
), and headed to .htaccess (the file that controls access to that directory. Enables your-domain.com/blog-post-so-called-slug for most blogging applications) thingies. I have regular IP (Internet Protocol address) spammers, about three, so I wrote ‘em down in the box, got the code, saved, and voila! I shouldn’t be getting spam at all. These bots shouldn’t even see my blog!
.
If you have the same issues, look in your email for some IPs (and keep the list going), head over to Dynamic Drive’s ban-by-IP-in-.htaccess-file wizard , paste ‘em in the box (seperate by a line break), generate the code, head on to your server’s file manager, edit the .htaccess file on the directory where you encounter spam (my blog for instance), insert the code snippet, save, and voila! They will now be banned.
You have spam from three locations and you say you cannot live with it?
I get a spammy message from any of ‘em every 30-60 minutes, and Akismet doesn’t filter them for some reason, so I have to mark about 20 as spam a day
.
You have three of them on every 30-60 minutes? That is an attack. A rather weird one.
