iPod Nano 3rd Generation Review

Well, it’s awesome. No, really, you should know it is absolutely perfect, before reading my review ;) .

The brand new iPod Nano. Taken from Flickr, permission granted. The new iPod Nano 3G is thinner than ever, with an astonishing thinness of 6.5mm (0.26 Inch), a much better system and screen, videos, up to 8GB, and a marvelous price. Except for the iPod Touch maybe, it’s the best iPod ever for most casual listeners. Read on beyond the break (new bloggers term I read about! ‘^_^) for the full review.

The Form Factor (AKA Design)

Well, I thought it would look awful, but it’s perfect. The iPod is shaped like it’s too-upgraded brother, the iPod Classic, only smaller. With aluminum protection, a feeling of true strength, the new ultra-bright and colorful screen, and the highly-responsive patented Click Wheel, there’s no place to go wrong about this baby.

The OS (Operating System / Interface)

Well, Apple dumped the old system and made a better one. Much better display of the TV Shows, Movies, and Podcasts menu, a much finer looking main menu, faster movement and Cover Flow. Yes, Cover Flow. My most favorite way to browse my illegally-downloaded collection of songs and albums (shhh!). Cover Flow works very fast, compared to a small iPod with a tiny graphics card (which somehow is in a Motorola phone but is rarely used), and still retains that feature to ‘flip’ the album and see the songs. Videos look stunning on this thing. So great, you could watch an entire feature-film! :) . The OS is also so much faster than before, plus the new “Preview” feature and the 3D games. Oh yes, 3D games. We Everyone but me can finally download currently-converted games by Apple to the iPod, and play them. You get “iQuiz”, “Advanced Solitaire”, and my favorite, “Vortex” (I can play this at home all day! And i’m planning to tomorrow!). It’s awesome we get it, since I and the rest of the folks from Israel can’t download stuff from the iTunes Store but Podcasts; even the free stuff! O.o .

Overall Rating

The new iPod Nano is an incredible thing. I couldn’t be more happier. (for my dad, hehe. He bought it for himself. I’m still getting an iPod Touch for the Wi-Fi, Multi-touch and Homebrew! [Illegally-created applications]) It’s a marvelous piece of work, and deserves a 9.5 ;) .

9.5/10

We played arround (nah, don’t own one) with the ITouch 8gb. Neat toy too. Although in the end, we just ended up rotating it 90 degrees constantly for the neat ‘desktop turns’ effect and decided we’d wait for the Iphone. (Will have it all, including telephone functionality. :d)

 Our official Apple importer (He’s so much better than the old one! Only 1200NIS (THAT’S ONLY 300 MORE THAN THE US PRICE!) for this iPod Nano, where the original importer would make it a 1600 NIS  .) is bringing the iPhone to Israel. At the beginning I thought “What? It’s ok, but no 3rd party support?” because Web 2.0 apps don’t cut it for me. Then, wen I saw hackers managed to hack(!!!!!!!!!!) it, I wanted one :D .
