[UPDATE @ 5:01pm: Uploaded the new icon for my blog, and Shift+Clicking doesn’t seem to work for icons…]
I’ve redone the DuoGrid logo as a shiny, simple logo. No more two avies on top of a DuoGrid colored text!
. Though I saved the older logo for archive purposes. You might also notice a new icon in the address bar (and tab for Firefox and Mozilla users), that’s the optimized version of the logo. And, i’m now making one for my blog and Second Lounge, (which is now back to square one since I thought a different system rather than the current one will be better) so you might notice another new icon in my blog any time you refresh the page or navigate elsewhere in it. If you can’t see the new logo and icons, clear your browser cache and then retry, or Shift+Click on “Reload” if you use Mozilla or Firefox to do the same thing, only for that single page’s resources. (Handy, huh?)
Here’s the new logo:

No, really, do you even CARE about this little project i’ve begun? If you do, or don’t, whatever, here are a few updates you should note:
- I got two “Shared Assets”: a Holo-emitter system, and Storm Thunder’s Neko skin. See the full category here.
- First “featured” creator — Vint Falken! Be sure to see it here.
- You can get FREE real life cash for optimizing your product (including web apps) for teen grid use! See this on Home.
- We’re now in DuoGrid.com . Not tslwiki.vintfalken.com/duogrid/???
. But, if you still wanna use tslwiki.vintfalken.com , be aware everything after it that is not a file or directory, will link to an appropriate wiki article.
I’ve been busy lately working on two new DuoGrid projects, called “Noob Camp” and “Second Lounge”.
- Noob Camp is a tutorials and introduction website for new Second Life Residents (”Noobs”, if you don’t know the term
). I plan to use tons of video tutorials on it — mostly Torley’s — , textual tutorials, and open an option for developers to post documentation and quick start guides on it, to make everyone’s Second Life easy and frustration-less
. This website will be DuoGrid-compatible, and so will not host M-rated (Mature = 18+) products’ documentation. However, it may be possible later with a Main Grid version.
- Second Lounge is a Second Life web portal containing forums, chat, events, places, and more, very similar to SL Talk, yet uses an entire different code base (the current code base for SL Talk is highly complex, which is why we are scraping it and starting over with Second Lounge). Although Second Life will soon have a way to search on-site for inworld content, this service will have free of charge location posting, fast timings, and may have AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML.
These projects will not be ready in a one-three weeks, especially Second Lounge. Expect to see Noob Camp by the end of December 2007 / beginning of January 2008, and Second Lounge in beta testing by the beginning of January 2008 / middle of February/March 2008.
P.S.: Just for fun, you can see the coming soon page of Noob Camp at www.duogrid.com/noobcamp.
I’m tired of people not using the optimization feature at all here, so, for a limited time, you can optimize a Main Grid product to a Teen Grid version for some quick cash using PayPal transfers, with an amount up to my whole L$ balance!*. Your L$ will be given over-grid by selling them and transferring via PayPal**. This is a limited time offer, so hurry and use the wizard linked above, because I want this project to finally do SOMETHING!

After some HTML writing, a new wizard on DuoGrid for product optimization has been created. This is a must when wanting to make your product available on both grids, for free or for L$. It’s just a “fun-ner” way of reading a guidelines page, as it doesn’t do much. After you reach the page with the smiling chat bubble, you have a guarantee you can contact us either right-away, or later, if you need to edit your product’s code before sending it for optimization.
Check it out now here.

Well, i’m finally done. *PHEW!* I wikified the entire documentation and code of Troy McConaghy’s Holo-Emitter, that is the first DuoGrid Shared Asset, as mentioned earlier. It took me a lot of time, but it was worth it. So, who’s first???

[Update @ Sep. 22nd 10:32AM SLT: All reopened! Enjoy!]
Hello,
From today, September 21st, and until tomorrow, September 22nd, the Jewish “Yom Kippur” (”Judgement Day”) will be ongoing, making most Xenon Projects-run services out-of-service. In the next half hour, all Xenon services will be closed down for today and tomorrow, including but not limited to, DuoGrid, discussions.duogrid.com (also known as DuoGrid Discussions), SL Talk, and more.
For people beta testing the closed, hidden, AlphaLife, it will be closed as well. Sorry for any inconvenience, and sorry for anything bad i’ve done to you!
.
In addition, on the Teen Grid, my avie will be dressed appropriately (dressed in black and dark clothes). Although Xenon-run projects will be closed, this blog will stay online
.
Heya readers, after seeing a new TV program called “Someone Somebody Is Following Watching You”, it amazed me like, well, hell O.O .
I will be starting a new Podcast to address the safety in SL, so people will know what they’re up against in the 21st century ‘^_^ . Did you know you can have your entire life biography placed on someone’s desk in 4-6 hours, if you give them your phone number? ID number? Name? O.O . In addition, the “Internet Standard” has been broken “so-last-year”.

Woot! After seeing Troy McConaghy’s Open Source Holo-Emitter that is sim-wide, I thought “I (and we) gotta have that”. But of course, it was “Main Grid-only”. Which is what this project is for! (DuoGrid)
. So, email –> request –> *click* –> approved!
. In a few moments i’ll post it to DuoGrid, so all can enjoy it without having to scout the web hehe.
Which reminds me. Do you have any open-source (or free) objects? Would you consider to post them to DuoGrid? If so, feel free to contact me at Smiley@DuoGrid.com. We accept TG-13 rated objects that are “licensed” (e.g.: You made the script/object/co-wrote it and the other co-writers agree to post it) properly.

Well, it’s almost ready, just need a few more touches
. I chose a simple bright design for this forum, meant for discussions regarding anything that’s SL-related, and DuoGrid-related stuff
. Even due to the simplicity of this new system (phpBB3 ; A truly awesome change from the old phpBB2 SL Talk is based on!), i’m thinking of scraping the whole SL Talk system and starting from scratch.
Anyway, here’s the new logo!
:

It’s a “basic-reflective-text-and-DuoGrid-logo”-based logo, but its so much more… Gives me a feeling of “professionalism”
.
Feel free to see the new website (if its not under construction when you enter) at discussions.duogrid.com.
